The Poetry Log

Me and Jonas decided to work together and then we decided to pick the poetry "Negro" by Langstone Hughes. We worked with this poem and we used glogster to make a presentation for the class. The link is found here.
We started last week when we got the task, and finished it and shined it up on Monday (when we presentated it.)

Think they all liked it, but indeed, the movie was a little too long..

Stereotypes

Often when we talk with somebody ex. a discussion, we use stereotypes when we talk about someone from another community, country or a city. We use stereotypes because we really don't know how they look, how they are, or how they talk. We often use it when we like to make a joke or something. If we talks about a British rich dude, we can say that he wheres a dobroc, a whiskey glass and smoking cigars when he are home. But that's not true. Not at all! All people are different. I think few rich guys actually do that, if someone do it, well, they are a rare race. It's not possible to do stereotyping. We really only do it when we make fun of someone just for the humor. Because again; all people are different!

The stereotyping can be harmful, but someone maybe take it close to themselves, and no one should take it personaly.

To be continued.

USA in the 1930s

In 1930 blacks had no civil rights, land ownership was possible but very limited. For instance, if a black family "owned" land, the white people could take it if the saw a use for it. Blacks were not allow to serve in any political positions on any level.

The only jobs that blacks could perform was work in the house of exslave owners doing "chores" like cleaning washing and farm/ yard work or cooking. But they were not allowed to live in the exslave owner's house. Instead they were sent to live in a barn- like structure or a 1-2 room shack with no heat or lamps.

Also in the 30s, the marketplace in USA had a downturn. The economic crisys made people go find other jobs, as shown here, two guys that go to an farm/ranch to find a job or two..

John Steinbeck

John Steinbeck, born February 27, 1902 and died December 20, 1968, was an American writer. He wrote the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Grapes of Wrath, published in 1939 and the novella Of Mice and Men, published in 1937. In all, he wrote twenty-five books, including sixteen novels, six non-fiction books and several collections of short stories. In 1962 Steinbeck received the Nobel Prize for Literature.

The novella Of Mice and Men is the most known novella he wrote.

Finaly done!

Well, done reading the book.. And now the tasks..

Of mice and men Chapter 3..

Now done reading chapter 3.. I ain't a fella thats reading, and like reading a book. But I must do what the teacher says. Actually I would learn more if I could see the movie, and don't have to read this book. But whatever..

"Lookin' forward to" read the rest of the book, and hope I will be done tonight, just becaue we have it to homework till tomorrow.. (DOH!!!!!!!!!!) I have other things to do when I`m not in school..

But what I`m really lookin' forward to, is when we go to the theater.. Cus' I ain't a reading-book-and-like-it-kinda-guy..

Aaaanyhow..
